“I believe every child should feel secure in the home they live in; we can and must provide secure, long term, genuinely affordable housing for our communities” Kate Ewert
Kate Ewert

“I am married with two young children, we live on the Rame Peninsula – I was lucky enough to grow up and be educated in South East Cornwall, and have spent most of my life here, there is nowhere else I would raise my children.  I came to be involved in politics after living in South Africa for a few years, we came home after the birth of our first child. Just in the few years we were gone, I noticed such a stark difference in our society in the UK. The difficulties faced by the most vulnerable in our society has been amplified by firstly the coalition government and then this cruel Tory government. I want a fairer, more just society for my children to grow up in, I want them to have the chance to attend university if they wish, to feel secure in their home, to have access to our fine NHS, I don’t want them to think that the casual racism and cruelty we are seeing is acceptable – I know the only way to do this is to fight for it, and for me, that means fighting for a Labour Government and local Labour representation. As Chair of SE Cornwall Constituency Labour Party, my aim is to be as inclusive as possible, especially encouraging younger people, women and BME people to get involved where they can within the Party and within local politics.”
