Liskeard South and Dobwalls Simon Cassidy
Simon Cassidy

Simon lives in Liskeard and by his own admission absolutely loves the area and the people. He is a father of two boys aged 13 and 8.

Having moved to the area in 2017, he says the warm welcome he received on arriving spurred him into trying to help and support the community he has grown to love. His day job involves managing operations across Devon and Cornwall in the Rail Industry, and when not doing that, he likes nothing more than giving up his spare time for the community.

Simon was co-opted to Liskeard Town Council in 2018 and is now Chair of the Communications and Engagement Committee. He is actively involved in organising and participating in public events across the town and is passionate about making Liskeard shine.

He isn’t afraid to get fully involved, even when it comes to scrubbing the town paths and alleyways in the pouring rain or helping to fundraise for and erect the Christmas lights in a pandemic.

In addition to his Councillor role, he is also a School Governor at Liskeard Hillfort Primary School. He is passionate about providing the best possible learning environment to children, stating that he really struggled himself at school and wants to give something back to ensure children are given the best possible chance in life.

Simon is a firm believer in putting people before politics and will always listen to the community and put their needs first.
