"Only Labour will guarantee a radical reform to education to ensure no one is left behind." Louis Sanderson - Youth Officer
I joined the Labour Party in 2016, aged fourteen because for the first time in my life it felt like the path to desolation and misery of austerity wasn’t the only way. Labour showed to me that my school shouldn’t have to cut incredible, hard-working teachers to stay afloat, that I shouldn’t have to watch family members struggle to prove they aren’t ‘fit for work’ after being too unwell to work for decades, and that I shouldn’t have my future stripped away from me because of my family’s income or the postcode where I live.
My generation has far more in common than that which divides us, but we need to take this opportunity of our coming of age to truly change this country. I joined my local Labour Party as CLP Youth Officer because I want to help share the passion us young people have for a fairer future where no person is held back from the education and resources to contribute their talents to society. Now is the time for the austerity generation to make a stand.
In the future, I hope to become a medical student after taking a gap year.
